THE INFLUENCE OF PODCASTS ON MODERN SPOKEN ENGLISH
Abstract
Abstract: In recent years, podcasts have become one of the most influential forms of digital communication worldwide. Their growing popularity has significantly affected the development of modern spoken English, particularly in the areas of vocabulary, pronunciation, conversational strategies, and informal communication patterns. The present study investigates the influence of podcasts on contemporary spoken English and examines the linguistic transformations associated with podcast discourse. The research is based on discourse analysis, descriptive analysis, and contextual analysis of authentic English-language podcasts. The findings demonstrate that podcasts contribute to the spread of conversational vocabulary, discourse markers, simplified grammatical constructions, and emotionally expressive speech patterns. The study also reveals that podcasts encourage the globalization of informal spoken English and influence the communicative behavior of listeners. The research contributes to the development of modern Digital Linguistics and the study of spoken discourse in digital environments.
